Mintel is a market research company, which delivers it’s various products via several powerful websites. During my time at Mintel, I was exposed to many technologies. Many of the older services were built a custom C++ framework, and utilised XSLT for data transformation. Over time, many of the newer products were moving towards Django a back-end. All of Mintel’s products make use of javascript frameworks to enrich the user experience.
Responsibilities & Achievements
- Worked as part of a small team of developers to design/implement the company’s new Django based site
- Implementing the all-new Django based public facing website, to allow non-technical staff to be able to add, edit, and manage the pages at will
- Lead the department’s User Interface Design and Usability group
- Managed development on the company’s Python based intranet, working internationally with stakeholders
- Solely responsible for implementing and integrating a new open source Helpdesk system for the company
- Created a bash script for automated overnight checkout, and build process for the legacy C++ systems
